Oh boy, I’m taking the plunge and starting a blog… After lurking around for a while now, I figure that it is about time I come into the light & start to record my musings on all things Unusual But Useful…
Unusual But Useful is code in my family for fun, beautiful and interesting items that add a touch of whimsy & delight to one’s life. It’s traditionally been reserved for items like great ribbon or fun gift tags especially around the holidays, but I’m expanding the definition to be anything that inspires beauty in my life!
Before I get too ahead of myself though I thought by way of introduction I would ‘tag’ myself:
- I live at the base of the Rocky Mountains in beautiful Boulder, Colorado (the Mork & Mindy house is here!). Did you know that Colorado boasts 300 days of sunshine each year? Yup, CO is where it’s at for sun, snow, mountains and overall great fun!
- I grew up an hour north of NYC on the Hudson River. The lobby in Grand Central Station is one of my favorite NYC places – I love seeing the tourists & the NY’ers navigate around each other & the ceiling is pretty amazing!
- I like to think that my idea of luxury is doing nothing, but the truth is I get bored easily. So really my idea of luxury is a day filled with good food, bright sunshine, laughs, maybe a nap & good friends.
- My all-time favorite foods are fresh tomatoes, crusty bread, cherries, brownies, peaches and just about any kind of cheese. I’m a happy girl with any or all of these foods set in front of me.
- I’m an avid reader & still miss my 1/2 hour each way commute from the time I lived in Boston because it provided me with ample reading time. Speaking of Boston, my favorite place in that city is the Public Garden – I liked walking through in the spring & summer scouting out the ducklings and noting their progress!
- I want to go on a tour of all the hot springs in the world and take my Mom. There’s something pretty amazing about natural hot springs…love them! These are some of my favorite…
So clearly I have some work to do on the graphics of this page. While the street scene is quite nice, it’s not exactly my style and I had to start somewhere so shortly there will be some Unusual but Useful graphics… In the meantime I need to figure out what the heck I am doing!
